Restaurante El Paisano sits right in the heart of Miguel Ahumada’s Zona Centro, making it a convenient stop for anyone traveling between Ciudad Juárez and Chihuahua City or locals looking for straightforward, hearty Mexican fare. The restaurant leans into traditional dishes known around the region, with plates like Tampiqueña, Bisteck Ranchero, and various styles of barbacoa forming the core of the menu. The portions are generous, which suits families or groups who appreciate sharing and a bit of variety at the table.

The atmosphere at El Paisano is relaxed and family-friendly, with a clean dining room and attentive staff who handle busy moments — including families with lively kids — with patience. The space comes across as no-frills but well cared for, which matches the straightforward approach to the food: classic Mexican recipes made fresh, without pretense. Practical touches like well-maintained restrooms and plenty of parking improve the overall experience, especially for those stopping in during a road trip or a midday break.

This is a spot where the regional touch stands out, particularly through dishes highlighting Asadero cheese, a local specialty worth seeking, especially in quesadillas or burritos. Expect familiar flavors like chorizo, hot cakes paired with huevos estrellados, and a selection of hearty meats like sirloin and pork ribs. Drinks such as agua de horchata and a simple cafecito round out the meal, pairing well with the friendly, easygoing vibe of the place.

El Paisano works best as a casual dining experience for those craving traditional Mexican meals in a clean, tidy setting without the fuss of fancy plating or a trendy atmosphere. Families, travelers on the road, and anyone looking for honest, filling food in the Zona Centro will find it suits their needs, especially around lunchtime when the kitchen is busy but service remains attentive. The acceptance of common credit cards also adds convenience for visitors.

Service was great! The waitresses were very patient with our screaming kids that were really excited to be out of our van. The food was good too. They take Visa and MasterCard. The place was very clean. The bathrooms were well stocked and clean. I would recommend this place to anyone. Definitely family friendly.

Make sure you get something withbl Asadero cheese. This region is famous for it. I had the chorizo quesadilla, make sure you're hungry. The portions are big.

This place is really good! I think their prices are high but yet I still make it my stopping point for food between Ciudad Juárez and Chihuahua City. It's just plain Mexican food, but it's always fresh, and delicious. The staff is always very courteous and available. The place is very clean too.

This is very good authentic Mexican food in a town known for its burritos and asadero cheese. I love the carne desebrada (shredded boiled beef cooked up and browned a bit on a solid grill) con asadero ( a soft supple white cheese) a la Mexicana (just enough chopped and grilled up onions and peppers to make it warm, but not hot.) They have a wide variety of local and name brand soft drinks. I don't know if they sell beer, as I don't drink, but it's no bar, it has a nice small town atmosphere with local regulars and many travelers. I also love their burritos con huevos revueltos con asadero a la Mexicana. Their lunch specials are good, especially their own soups. Simple delicious fare... If you're headed to Chihuahua City buy an extra burrito to go for supper. But don't try to bring one into El Paso, or at least declare it. Get a packet if their caramelized pecans to go too.
